Clarification on Who needs FSSAI License ? Caterer OR Canteen Owner Company

  1. In an industrial canteen if food is not cooked and only served, then caterer cooking food at central kitchen must have his own central kitchen fssai license and also it must bear a valid fssai license in his own name with industry address for food serving.
  2. Industry having in-house canteen but not cooking food within are exempted from obtaining FSSAI License for Canteen, however caterer must have FSSAI license for catering as explained above.

Departmental Canteens at the premises of Central Govt. Institutions

Food Service Establishment involved in preparation and serving of food for consumption of a group of individuals working or visiting central government agencies
