As per recent FSS (contaminants, toxins and residues) Regulation- dated 19th Aug, the heavy metal Tin’s limit proposed for turmeric is NMT 0.01 ppm. My question is 1. What are the possible potent sources of tin into processed turmeric and 2. What necessary precautions or steps to be taken to avoid the tin contamination. Dear Sir/ Madam, As per new Notification of Food Safety Standards Regulations (Additives), it shows that in Ketchup Sorbates are allowed upto 1,000 ppm, and previously it was Benzoates 750ppm so are both the additives permissible or henceforth Sorbate is only permissible preservative in Ketchup and Sauces..
